NovaMind 4 > NovaMind for Mac
Drilldown/drillup
WilBloodworth:
Well, I have only been "mind mapping" for a few weeks so I have no frame of reference to those experiences. I started with FreeMind and then went to XMind. I really love the drill-down feature as it helps with presentations as well as clear my "visual palette" so my mind is not distracted.
That said, I truly love the vector-based scaling of everything in NovaMind and how everything "stays put" when you expand/collapse child items. I wasn't really aware this was annoying until I saw how it worked in NovaMind and then went back to XMind to see the difference.
A workaround for the drill-down issue is to export NovaMind map to a MindMapper file and then import the MindMapper file into a free version of XMind. You'll lose some formatting and nice NovaMind vector graphics but you will retain most functionality and get the drill-down functionality... if you need to have it in a pinch.
Patrick:
We have rewritten NovaMind 5 from scratch. Obviously this is a huge effort and we have explained delays to the rollout in the NovaMind 5 FAQ.
We are currently working on the Presenter on the Windows version and on the initial release of the Mac version.
Once the Presenter is done we will revisit other features such as the FlexiLines, theme editor and also the drill down/focus feature. As we have mentioned this is something that was simply not possible in the old structure and part of the huge rewrite was to enable this scenario.
I cannot promise anything at this stage but we will definitely discuss this feature soon.
