keyboard shortcuts....
« on: May 08, 2012, 07:39:58 am »
Is there a keyboard shortcut for collapsing and expanding a node? I searched in the 'help' section for keyboard shortcuts and could not find anything. I essentially want to flow through my mindmap without ever touching my mouse (slows me down).

Thanks!

Yes, there is a shortcut. Select the parent node. Then type the chord OPTION-COMMAND-0 (⌥⌘0). That will collapse the children.

Other similar commands are:

⌥⌘1 - Show one level
⌥⌘2 - Show two levels
⌥⌘3 - Show all levels
⌥⌘9 - Focus on selected topics

There are many other keyboard shortcuts available for NM5. Contact technical support at http://www.novamind.com/support for a complete list.

A useful software for identifying keyboard shortcuts is:

Keycue from Ergonis Software. Check it out at http://www.ergonis.com/products/keycue/

It will run you about $20, but if you're allergic to track pads or mice, it might be worth it to you.

In reference to your desire to "flow through" your mind maps "without touching [your] mouse":  try experimenting with the arrow keys (←↑→↓) to jump from topic to topic. That could save you a lot of mousing around.
