After over 3 years of research and development NovaMind are delighted to announce a revolutionary new Mind Mapping product: NovaMind 5. The rollout is now underway with the technology preview, and will move forward as we complete the different products for Windows and Mac*.
Technology Preview
We are releasing NovaMind 5 progressively, with a technology preview for each platform first, and then following through to beta testing and final release. We are currently in the Technology Preview phase for both the Windows and Mac products.

More Topic Shapes
There is a wide range of new topic shapes available now, allowing you to create more visually rich Mind Maps.
Floating Topics, Attached Shapes and Callouts
Create parts of your Mind Maps separately, and either leave them that way as floating topics (which can have a whole tree of sub-topics) or join them on to the Mind Map.
Attach shapes, images, and text to the topics and have them move with the topics.
Use callouts to add explanations to topics. They act like cartoon speech bubbles on your Mind Map. Callouts can have sub-topics so you can extend your explanation using the Mind Mapping format.
More Flexible FlexiLine Topics
The flexible line topics have become much more flexible. You can now click on multiple points you want your curve to go through, and NovaMind will draw a smooth curve through the points...or you can just click and drag to draw a freehand line, which NovaMind smooths automatically.
Want to change the shape of the line later? No problem - just drag the points at the center of the curves and NovaMind will adjust your curve accordingly.
Are you a power user who wants detailed control over the curve? Easy - just switch to Bézier path editing, and you can adjust the Bézier control points.
New Themes & Styles System
A completely redesigned themes & styles system allows you to play with the look & feel of your mind map with over 100 different variations, all of which are easily accessible.

The themes also include full palettes of colors designed to go well together, making it trivial to create stunning looking Mind Maps.

New Layout Engine
A unique feature in NovaMind 5 is the new layout engine. NovaMind 5 is the only mind mapping application that gives you the freedom to move any element were you want it, while allowing for multitude of easy to use automatic layout settings such as an org-chart layout.
You can set the topics to be lined up along any angle as well - another feature unique to NovaMind. See the video below to see it in action.
NovaMind 5 also combines flexible hand-drawn layout styles with completely automatic mind map layouts to give you the best of both worlds.
And for NM4 users: No more layout modes! NovaMind 5 has a single layout mode that does everything!
New User Interface
Improving what works and redesigning what doesn't. NovaMind 5 reinvents multi-platform applications by bringing you the best user experience on both PC and Mac.
The PC version has an enhanced user interface based on the Microsoft Fluent UI (Ribbon) and the Mac embraces the 'Inspector' paradigm and brings you a completely reworked user interface.
We would like to thank the OmniGroup folk for releasing their open source frameworks including the inspector framework which we use in NovaMind.
New Automatic Coloring Options
NovaMind 5 has many enhancements to the automatic coloring settings, with the ability to define and reuse color sets, use alternating rainbow colors where every second branch is colored using a color from the opposite side of the color wheel to give more contrast, and a new interpolated color system which allows you easy control over the colors of the children topics.
Also new to NovaMind 5 is to set the coloring mode on a topic by topic basis, which allows you much more control over the coloring of the topics without having to set each one individually.
Improved Link Lines and Labels
The link lines allow you to better show the relationships between elements of your Mind Map by giving you over 30 line ending styles - things like arrows, circles, dots, squares, tridents etc, and each one can be scaled to indicate how important that connection is.
The link lines are also now completely flexible like the FlexiLine topics, so you can shape them as you wish.
You can now put as many labels as you like on the link lines, and the labels can be aligned at any angle you like, or parallel to or perpendicular to the line, or even with the text flowing along the line.
Improved Lines, Fills, and Effects
There are now 25 different dash styles available so you can get your Mind Map looking the way you want it.
You can set the corner styles and line cap styles for the lines.
The fill and effect options have also been massively improved, as have the capabilities for working with images.
New File format & Plugin Architecture
NovaMind 5 has a new, flexible and astonishingly simple file format as well as a brand new plugin architecture (both on PC & Mac). This allows for third party extensions to your Mind Mapping experience.
This really is designed to give the ultimate in customization and power to your Mind Mapping application.

We looked at all the other Mind Mapping software available, and found that ALL of them had serious flaws in their Mind Map layout. We designed a system that has NONE of those problems, and is both powerful and very flexible.

Just watched the new video and I'm really impressed, you are really refining things to a level way beyond any other mind mapping programs that I've tried.
I'm using Mind Manager right now, but I think I'll be converting my old mind maps to Novamind 5, and probably not opening mind manager again, which has always felt clunky to me.
From what I've seen so far Novamind 5 looks incredibly well thought out. I'm getting more and more sure you are at the top of your field. I'd buy you a beer if it wasn't so expensive to wire money from the US to Australia.
