NovaMind Presenter

Top  Previous  Next

NovaMind has a powerful presentation module built in, yet it is very easy to give a presentation using NovaMind.

To start your presentation, click on the Presentation Mode command in the View tab.

The ribbon bar will be removed, and you will see the presentation controls at the bottom of the screen.

A Standard Presentation

To start showing your presentation, click the Start button at the bottom of the screen.

First, you will see the Mind map title and the first level branches, expanded to fill the canvas, and highlighted, with all the sub-branches hidden.

Click the Next button (or press the Space Bar0 to go on to focus on the first branch. The first branch (as per the outline numbering) is highlighted and expanded to show its immediate children.

As you continue clicking the Next button, the focus continues moving through the branches and sub-branches, only stopping on the branches that either have children themselves or their siblings have children. This means that you aren't hopping around all the leaf branches.

Exiting Presentation Mode

When you have finished your presentation, click the Close button at the bottom of the screen to return to normal editing.

Going Back

At any time during the presentation, you can click on the Back button to focus the previous branch.

Overview

At any time during the presentation you can click the Overview button, which will zoom out so that the whole Mind Map fits in the window, and all the branches are shown.

Center

At any time during the presentation, you can click the Center button and this will center the currently focussed branch and zoom it in.

Zooming

You can manually adjust the zoom at any time, but when you are going through the presentation, it will zoom in to branches as required to highlight them. It only zooms in a certain amount though, otherwise the branches would look massive, but if you do want them bigger, just use the zoom control to zoom in.

Manually Focussing on Branches

You can take over from the normal order of the presentation at any time by clicking on the branch you want to highlight (even leaf branches that would not normally be individually highlighted). If you click on a leaf branch which would not normally be highlighted, and then click the Next button, it will continue highlighting the sibling branches of the highlighted branch until completed, and then go back to the normal presentation setting.

Editing Branches

You can actually edit the branches while you are in presentation mode. Just double-click on the branch you want to edit, and start editing. You can add new branches with the Enter and Insert keys as normal, and then when you want to return to the presentation mode, just either click the Center button to focus on the previously selected branch, or single click on the branch you want to focus on, and continue your presentation from there.

Using the Ribbon Bar

Although the ribbon bar is hidden when using presentation mode, you can still access all the ribbon bar commands by clicking on the tab titles which are still shown at the top of the screen. This will then temporarily show the ribbon bar to enable you to use the commands you need. It will disappear again when you have selected the command you need, or when you click on the Mind Map canvas.

If you want the ribbon bar shown all the time while you are in presentation mode, double-click one of the tab bar titles, and it will show the ribbon bar again. If you want to hide it, you can double-click the tab again.
