Exporting files

During export, you can select one of the following formats for your scripts:

FCF (Final Draft format)
Text
RTF (specially formatted Rich Text which can be opened in programs like Movie Magic Screenwriter)

Select your export format by clicking on the appropriate radio button. NovaMind will then export all of your scripts that have not been disabled.

Choosing what part of your script to export:

You have the option to export your entire script, the script for the selected branch, only certain scenes, or only certain pages of the script.

In addition to exporting your scripts, you can also accompany these with other text elements from your Mind Map which will be exported as the one file in your selected format. With your script you can also export these parts of your Mind Map:

Include Mind Map Text - As part of your exported file, NovaMind can also export the Mind Map branch text which your scripts are attached to (note this option will not export branches that have no scripts).

Include Branch Notes - means NovaMind will also export any text you have attached that is indicated by the  icon.

Include Attached Text Graphics - means NovaMind will include any text graphics (the floating text boxes on your Mind Map).

Include Branches Without Script Text - means NovaMind will export the text from ALL the Mind Map branches, not just the ones that have scripts.

Include Hidden Branches - If you have scripts attached to any hidden branches in your Mind Map, then they will NOT print unless you select this checkbox during export or printing.

All Script (even if disabled for printing) - Normally any portions of the script where you have turned off the Print checkbox are not included in the printing or export. By selecting this option you can print all of your scripts including those that are disabled (this does NOT include scripts attached to hidden branches unless the Include Hidden Branches option is turned on too).

You can use the ability to turn off specific portions of the text for experimental writing.

For example, if you are writing a screenplay and you have 4 possible endings that you want to try out, you can write the 4 endings on 4 branches, and turn off all but the one you like the best.

Now print or export the screenplay and send it off for review.

If the reviewer likes the screenplay but doesn't like the ending, uncheck the ending you had used, check your second choice, and a few seconds later, you can produce a screenplay with the alternate ending.
