Tasks and Resources

Resources are anything you want to keep track of during a project. Resources are typically things like:

Staff
Contractors
Meeting attendees
Tools
Equipment
Vehicles
Buildings
Meeting rooms

... and anything else you need to keep track of for your project.

NovaMind allows you to create a pool of resources that you can use throughout your document on any of the Mind Maps in the document.

Creating your pool of resources

You create your pool of resources for your NovaMind document using the resource editor. There is an icon on the toolbar to show the resource editor, or you can click on the Show Resources button of the Assigned Resources palette.

The resource editor looks like this:

NMLResources

Manually adding resources

You can add resources manually by clicking on the + button, and entering the details. You can also select an existing resource and use the gear button to show the menu which allows you to duplicate the existing resource.

Adding resources from the Address book

You can also drag people in directly from your Mac Address book. First open Address book, and select the person or people you would like to add. You can also select a group.

Now switch back to NovaMind, and drag the resources on to the resource editor panel to add them.

You can also drag resources directly from the Address Book onto branches, and they will be added to the branches, and if not already existing in the document, they will be added as resources in the resource editor.

You can then edit the resource properties.

Editing Resource Properties

In the Resoruce section, you can set the name of the resource, their initials, and their role in the project. You can also set their standard charge out rate by hour or per use, and their overtime rate.

In the Weekly Availability, you can specify how many days a week they are available, or say which days they are available.

in the Daily Availability section, you can set the start and end time - either by using the text fields or dragging the hands of the clocks around. You can click on the AM/PM on the clock to change from AM to PM and vice versa.
