NovaMind has a powerful presentation module built in, yet it is very easy to give a presentation using NovaMind.

Click on the presentation icon in the toolbar to begin your presentation.

Setting up your presentation

You will have a number of options for setting up your presentation;

NMLPresentSetup

You can present a single Mind Map in your document or multiple Mind Maps. Select the Maps you want to include in your presentation.

If you choose the option to show frame transitions, you will have a smooth sliding and zooming transition between showing each branch in the presentation, and the relevant branches will fade in or out as required. The picture below shows a branch that is part way through fading in:

If you choose the option to show map transitions, it will show a cube transition between one map and the next like this:

NMLPresent7

If you choose the option to show the branch notes, then the branch will be shown and then the next slide will be the branch notes like this:

NMLPresent6

Note that even if you don't have the branch notes option turned on, you can manually show the notes for a branch by using the N hotkey, and the using the N hotkey to hide the notes again.

When NovaMind does the presentation it goes around all the branches on your Mind Map in turn, but often you want other slides at the beginning and end of your presentation to act as an introduction and summary. We have provided three extra options:

A slide with just the Mind Map title
A slide with the Mind Map title and the first level branches
A slide with an overview showing the whole Mind Map

You can select any or all of these, and drag them into the order you would like them to appear in for your presentation.

The normal way of doing presentations from Mind Maps is to use a slide with the Mind Map title and first level branches and talk about the topics you are going to cover in the presentation as you go around the first level branches, then deal with the detail levels and then at the end of the presentation again show a slide with the title and top level branches to act as a summary.

Running your Presentation

Running with two screens or one screen and a projector

When you run your presentation on two screens the presenter's console is shown on the screen that had the menu bar on it, like this:

NMLPresent1

and on the other screen (or projector), is displayed the audience view like this:

NMLPresent2

If you want to swap the displays, you can press the X key.

Running with a single screen

When you just have one screen, you only see the audience view, but you can use the up and down arrows as described below to show the slide selector and select which slide to show.

Presenter shortcut hotkeys

To show the shortcut keys, click the ? key. A panel like this will appear to give you the shortcuts.

Notice that you can control the presentation using your mouse, or using and Apple Remote, or using your keyboard.
