This includes gaining knowledge of student demographics and prevalence of mental illness.

 Learning about the structure of AMC student mental health service and how to access it.  

Reviewing human developmental issues as they relate to students, especially separation-individuation, development of personal and professional identity, and young-adult relationship and family issues.

Developing an understanding of the history of campus violence and related systems issues, especially student privacy vs. protection.  This includes learning about the AMC threat assessment team.

Discussing advanced psychotherapy techniques as they apply to AMC health sciences students, including integration of strategies from psychodynamics, motivational interviewing, cognitive, interpersonal and behavioral approaches.

Considering transference and boundaries issues as they apply to having health science students as psychiatric patients.
