Euthyphro's Question
Euthyphro>Euthyphro>Third Definition>
Branch Note:
(asked by Socrates)
But do all the gods acknowledge what is pious because those things are inherently pious? If so, we still don't have a definition of piety.
Is what is "pious" pious because all the gods love it, or do they all love it because it is pious.
There is an implicit statement here that there is a standard of "goodness" or "piety" beyond that of the Greek pantheon.
