Most homeless people in LA are disabled. Most became homeless when they lost their jobs. Some are vets. Many are children. Less than half abuse alcohol or substances. Many who use substances are trying to blunt pain.

SOBERING STATISTICS
Los Angeles has a larger homeless population than any other US city. It is said that, on any given day, there are 80,000 homeless people. Shelters, even in winter, can accommodate about one in four.
