Mind Map branch: 4-Digit Addition 4-Digit Addition Step 2: Carry over any digits that are the result of the right-hand column equalling ten or more Tip: If the right-hand column numbers that you are adding are 8 and 7 (which equals 15), place the 5 in sum portion of the equation, and carry the 1 over to the next column Step 3: Add the numbers in the column second to the right. Be sure to add any number carried over from the first column Step 4: Carry over any numbers to the column third from the right that are the result of the numbers in the second column equalling 10 or more Step 5: Repeat the previous steps with the third and fourth columns until you have finished adding the digits in all four columns Step 1: Add the numbers in the column all the way to the right
