Description:
This map has been updated and converted to NM5. It is posted here as an image only, but is linked to a fully hyperlinked PDF. "Smart appliances" are major household appliances with built-in wireless transmitters designed to perform a number of functions. They will apparently report to you via your computer or smart phone how much electricity you are using and what the charges are, shifting energy consumption to off-peak times. Some have voice recognition software. Some remind you of maintenance schedules. Some help technicians remotely diagnose problems. Some warn you to conserve energy. There are other features and functions as well. This map links many of major companies offering "smart" appliances, and presents an overview of the topic. Health and environmental issues are not discussed in depth in this map. |
