in Announcements: NovaMind 5 for Windows

We are pleased to announce the immediate availability of an update for the Windows version of NovaMind 5 (desktop). This application requires Windows XP, Vista, 7, or 8 to run.

There are three main areas of focus for this release:

The new version of the program has access to the documentation through both the Getting Started panel, and also through the help menu.

Even if you have used NovaMind 5 for Windows for a long time, we would highly recommend that you look at the documentation, since there are lots of tips and tricks there, which you probably aren’t aware of, and a few minutes looking at the documentation may well save you a lot of time and allow you to create nicer looking Mind Maps.

Mind Map Reorganization

Most of the Mind Map reorganization options have only been available in the outline view up until now. We have now taken those functions and made them available on the Mind Map itself.

Included in these functions are the following commands:

  • Group: Ctrl+G
  • Ungroup: Ctrl+Shift+G
  • Move topic Up: Ctrl+Up Arrow
  • Move topic Down: Ctrl+Down Arrow
  • Move topic Left: Ctrl+Shift+Left Arrow
  • Move topic Right: Ctrl+Shift+Right Arrow
  • Indent: Ctrl+Right Arrow
  • Outdent: Ctrl+Left Arrow

All these have been grouped together with the New Mind Map from Topic menu item and put into a Reorganize submenu of the context menu.

In addition, the new version includes bug fixes and various other minor improvements throughout the application.

The update should be detected by the automatic update system, and can either be installed straight away, or when you quit NovaMind. If you are new to NovaMind, the new version is the version that is downloaded from the NovaMind web site.
